Alcove - Privacy Policy

1. Zero Data Collection

Alcove is a "Zero-Knowledge" application. We have designed the app so that we never have access to your personal information.

• No Accounts: You are not required to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address to use the app.
• No Tracking: We do not use analytics, cookies, or third-party tracking SDKs. Your behavior within the app is completely private.
• No Advertising: There are no third-party advertisements that track your activity.

2. File Access and Storage

Alcove acts as a local organizer for your study materials. All processing happens on your hardware.

• Local-Only Storage: Every file you save or organize remains on your device's internal storage. We do not own or operate any servers to store your data.
• Manual Selection: The app does not scan your phone for files. It only interacts with the specific documents you choose to import or save into the system.
• No Cloud Uploads: We never transmit your files over the internet.

3. Permissions

Alcove does not request broad or intrusive system permissions. It utilizes standard system file-pickers to allow you to save and retrieve your documents securely and manually.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

• User Control: You have absolute control over your data. If you delete a file within Alcove, it is removed immediately from the app's local directory.
• Permanent Deletion: Because we do not maintain backups or cloud copies, deleted data is gone forever. We cannot recover files once you have deleted them.

5. Security

Since your files are stored locally, their security is tied to the security of your physical device. We recommend using your device’s built-in security features, such as passcodes or biometric locks, to protect your organized materials.
